Update #4

Happy last day of 2010!

As I reported last night, the Iowans were asked to come to help finish some Petal Pusher floats after 11:00 because of the change in time of the judging.  We left the hotel at 10 pm and returned at 3:00 AM.

We were glad we were able to help.  It was fun to be part of a huge project.  When we arrived, the Lutheran Hour float had been declared finished 5 minutes earlier.  It truly is beautiful and a beautiful message of God’s love.

We worked on four different floats, putting on many, many flowers!

Iowa is having crazy weather.  CA is also having unusual weather…colder than ever, we are told.  No snow or ice though….so that is a good thing!

We met this morning at noon, had a short devotion, everyone received a rose and we headed out to explore Pasadena.  We went to the Soup Plantation (many who have been on this trip will remember the great food).  Then we drove up and down Colorado and saw thousands and thousands of people who have camped out for the night.  Most spaces on the sidewalks were ‘taken’ by 3:00 pm.  People had everything imaginable with them for their ‘night’ on Colorado Blvd.

We visited with Chris, a Lutheran, who is generously providing chairs for us in front of a Presbyterian Church on Colorado Blvd.  What a great gift!!!

We will be up at 4 and off to the parade route at 5 so it is best for me to call it a day and say HAPPY 2011 to each of you.  God’s blessings, Ellie Menz
